How to play Six Card Golf

  1. Deal six cards to each player in two rows of three, then turn two cards face up.
  2. On each turn, take the visible discard or draw the top stock card.
  3. Replace one grid card, or discard a stock card you do not want.
  4. When one grid is fully face up, the other player gets one final turn.
  5. Score the grid after cancelling matching vertical pairs. Add all nine holes; the lowest total wins.

Six Card Golf strategy tips

1

A matching pair scores zero even when the cards are high, so pairing two Queens can be better than taking one low card.

2

Take the discard when it completes a pair or safely replaces an expensive card; draw from the stock when the visible card does not help.

3

Do not reveal your final hidden card too early. Ending the hole is strongest when your visible grid already compares well with Finn’s.

Common questions

Two cards of the same rank in one vertical column score zero for that entire column. Their suits do not need to match.
