How to play Crazy Eights
- Deal seven cards to each player and start the discard pile with a non-eight card.
- Play a card matching the current suit or the top card’s rank.
- Play an 8 at any time and choose the suit that comes next.
- If you do not play, draw one card. Play it if legal or pass.
- Keep taking turns until one player has no cards remaining.
Crazy Eights strategy tips
Save a wild 8 for a turn when no ordinary card works or when Finn is close to winning.
After playing an 8, call the suit you hold most often.
Notice which suits Finn cannot follow. Changing back to that suit can force another draw.
Common questions
Why are eights special?
Every 8 is wild. It may be played on any card and lets the player choose the next suit.
Do I have to play if I can?
No. In the Shuffle Pals version, you may draw instead, though giving up a legal play is rarely helpful.
How do you win Crazy Eights?
Be the first player to play every card in your hand.
